1986 LIMA SENIOR STATE CHAMPION 4X100 METER RELAY TEAM

The 1986 Lima Senior High School 4x100 Meter Relay Team started its road to a state Championship with the
Boys AAA District Championship Title, followed by winning the Regional Championship.
The team won the State Championship with a time of 42.34.
Team members were Eric Schoonover, Carlton Thomas, Todd Simpson and Kevin Scott. Their efforts also
helped the LSH track and field team win the District and Regional Track Crowns that year.
Each relay team member had special careers at Lima Senior and beyond.
Eric was a two-time state qualifier in the long jump, finishing eighth and sixth in 1985 and 1986. After
graduation, we joined the United States Marine Corps.
Todd was a district and regional qualifier in the 100-meter dash in 1986.
Carlton went to the University of Cincinnati on a football scholarship and then joined the United States Army.
Kevin was a three-time AAA District Champion in the 400-meter dash. In 1985-1986, he was AAA District
Champion, Regional Champion and state qualifier in the 100, 200 and 400-meter dashes. At the 1986 state
meet, he finished third in the 100 and fourth in the 200. He decided not to run the 400 to focus on the relay
race.
Kevin holds the school record in the 400-meter dash at 47.7. He went to Barton Community College and later
transferred to the University of Las Vegas.
